modern astrology, noun

Due to the changes brought about by the Scientific Revolution, Western astrology nearly died out. But the discovery of new planets and asteroids, as well as spiritualist and mystical movements, rekindled interest during the nineteenth century. Since some of the theoretical underpinnings of astrology had been lost, modern astrology reinvented itself with new ideas drawn from theosophy, psychology, and science. Branches of modern astrology multiplied in the twentieth century, to include psychological astrology, evolutionary astrology, experiential astrology, harmonic astrology, and numerous others. Most focus on natal astrology, astrological forecasting, and, to a lesser degree, mundane astrology.

Modern astrology stands apart from traditional astrology through its inclusion of new planets such as Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and others, as well as its use of the natural house overlay to assign house meanings.
